Censorship in the U.K.

The British Board of Film Classification has decided to ban the upcoming game Manhunt 2 for sale in the United Kingdom. The game, scheduled for release on the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii, will be illegal to sell, no matter whether the potential buyer is an adult or not. The BBFC says:

Manhunt 2 is distinguishable from recent high-end video games by its unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone in an overall game context which constantly encourages visceral killing with exceptionally little alleviation or distancing.

Another step away from the ever important freedom of expression, with mother government deciding what us small children the citizens can handle. Let us hope the publisher, Rockstar Games, successfully appeals this decision.
