Over the last few years, there have been innumerable opportunities for [the professional Muslim protester] to demonstrate his piety and his pissed-offness. And the cameras have been there for him every time. Is it a fatwah? Is it a copy of the Quran allegedly down the gurgler at Guantanamo? Is it some cartoon in Denmark? Time for Rage Boy to step in and for his visage to impress the rest of the world with the depth and strength of Islamist emotion.
The above is taken from an interesting article by Christopher Hitchens, in which he wonders why Western media insists on making this Islamist Rage Boy seem more important and influencial than perhaps he is. We hear person after person call for us to more sensitive to his feelings, and yet there is no way to know what will offend him next.
It’s a very worthwhile read, and you can find the full article here.
