I am not sure what’s going on in Iran. The mainstream media is not much help. Through Andrew Sullivan’s inspired blogging we get a peek inside, with twittered messages, and pictures put up online for the world to see. Something is moving. Whether it’s enough to cause substantial improvement for the oppressed citizens of the Islamic Republic, I have no idea. The optimist in me can not but see it as a sign that the Mullah rule is built on sand. At the same time, government forces appear to be beating down hard on the protesters. If they strike hard enough, perhaps they can clutch on to power for quite a while yet.
