Elinor Ostrom and Oliver Williamson have been awarded the Nobel Prize in economics. I am unfamiliar with their work, but Alex Tabarrok provides good overviews on both of them (Ostrom, Williamson). Makes me want to learn more about their work. Tabarrok deems them to be excellent choices.

Update: Last year’s winner, Paul Krugman, adds some comment. As does Steven Levitt, although Don Boudreaux takes issue with his view on Ostrom. Obviously there are many more comments around the web.
