BRING ON THE FEMINIST PARTY!

SVT's Debatt, a debate show, just featured another round between the ultra feminists in the red corner and the sensible people who hasn't got hooked on Marx but changed the classes to genders in the blue corner.

Despite being the more elegant boxer no one would probably remember the blue corner fighter as the opponent as usual screamed so loud that you started to wonder if you'd somehow been knocked down and had a hearing aid piece put in your ear.

Apparently we men are not just so evil as to steal all the good jobs, take most of the money, and just generally oppress our sisters - we're also so stupid that we're oppressing them in such a way that we ourselves are the big losers. According to former (?) communist Gudrun Schyman the patriarchal oppression is the reason for why the majority of the unemployed are men. It's also the reason for that some of these men sit on their asses in the countryside waiting for the alcoholism to get the better of them so that they can end their misery by putting a shotgun to their heads and pull the trigger.

I think I want to replace the leaders in our patriarch organisation. I'd do a much better job of oppression myself...

In Sweden there's also the ongoing debate on the creation of a feminist party (the aforementioned Ms Schyman being one of the favourites to take up the leadership role). I'd actually welcome such a party. While it would be depressing to see them get enough votes to get into the Parliament (and they would, I think) it would also be nice to have all the extremists - dare I say gender fascists? - collected in one place. And it would be interesting to see their efforts at agreeing on common views on policies that have nothing to do with feminism. But I shouldn't forget: everything has to do with feminism.

What would happen if such a party got elected to Parliament? It's difficult to say. Clearly it would be a party far out on the left wing (this is, after all, just a disguised class struggle). Their policies would probably be some way off from that of the Social Democrats, but if the Social Democrats needed their support to keep governing I'm sure they'd give almost anything to buy it. What I'm not so sure about is that the feminist party would let themselves be bought. After all, it would consist of people being most happy when they can stand on the barricades and shout (something that's a lot easier to do when your not partly responsible for governing the country). Also I think they'd lose a lot of their eventual popular support if they were forced to take any kind of resposibility over anything.

No matter what, bring them on, I say. It'll be a sad day for this country when they get into Parliament, but it'll also be a day that indeed reflects the state of this land. At least in some aspects.
